Gustavo’s Corner: AI News for CFOs - #3

This edition highlights how major global players are reshaping the AI and enterprise landscape. Deloitte is extending Anthropic’s Claude AI assistant to 470,000 employees worldwide, reinforcing its AI-enabled consulting capabilities while navigating accountability challenges after an AI-related reporting error. Perplexity AI is democratizing access to its Comet browser by removing subscription fees, positioning itself as a serious competitor in AI-powered browsing and productivity tools. Google’s launch of Gemini Enterprise signals a major leap in no-code enterprise AI, offering finance and business functions seamless integration with ERP and productivity ecosystems for workflow automation and data-driven insights. Meanwhile, Figure AI’s humanoid “Robot Figure 03” enters scalable production, reflecting rapid progress in physical AI automation. Finally, a Reuters Institute survey shows AI usage is doubling across populations, yet public trust in fully AI-generated content remains low—especially in journalism.
Anthropic enables Deloitte’s worldwide AI expansion: The consulting firm intends to provide its 470,000 employees across more than 150 countries with access to its Claude AI assistant. Deloitte claims this initiative will promote responsible AI use among staff and support clients who are interested in adopting new technology. Notably, the news followed closely on the heels of Deloitte’s announcement that it would repay the Australian government after acknowledging errors in a report caused by AI-generated content.
Perplexity AI has launched its Comet browser globally for free, removing the previous $200/month subscription barrier and opening access to features such as AI-powered search, tab management, email drafting, and shopping. Previously exclusive to a waiting list of millions, this move is set to rapidly expand Perplexity’s user base and intensify competition against established players like Google (Gemini in Chrome), OpenAI’s Operator, and Anthropic’s browser AI agent. By offering advanced capabilities at no cost, Perplexity’s strategy could significantly disrupt the AI browser landscape, challenging both traditional browsers and rival AI solutions.
Google’s launch of Gemini Enterprise introduces a powerful no-code AI platform that enables companies to automate workflows and deploy AI agents across departments such as marketing, finance, and HR. By integrating seamlessly with popular business tools like Salesforce, SAP, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace, it allows organisations to generate content and analyse data more efficiently. Early adopters are already reporting enhanced speed and intelligence in operations, highlighting Gemini Enterprise’s potential to drive widespread enterprise automation and significantly boost productivity for finance leaders and their teams.
Robot Figure 03 launch: Figure AI’s third-generation humanoid robot, designed for mass production and featured in Time Magazine’s ‘Best Inventions of 2025’, can perform household chores with notable dexterity. Production is ramping up to 12,000 units per year at the new BotQ factory, aiming for widespread home use soon. Watch it in action here.
Reuters Institute survey across six countries reveals that regular AI usage has nearly doubled over the past year, with many individuals leveraging AI for research and routine tasks such as writing or coding, predominantly via ChatGPT, and frequently encountering AI-generated summaries in Google or Microsoft searches. However, despite this growing integration of AI into daily life, the majority of respondents remain cautious about fully AI-written news, expressing a strong preference for the accuracy and context provided by human journalists. This underscores a notable divide: while AI is embraced for personal productivity, concerns persist about its impact on truth and credibility in journalism. Survey: More people use AI, but few trust it
Why this news is important to CFOs and their teams:
These developments illustrate how AI is moving from experimentation to large-scale operational integration across business functions. For CFOs, this signals a turning point: AI is no longer just an analytical tool but a structural enabler of efficiency, governance, and decision-making. Platforms like Gemini and Claude open opportunities for financial automation, predictive analysis, and strategic planning, while the Perplexity model demonstrates how cost democratization can accelerate adoption. However, as Deloitte’s experience and the Reuters survey remind us, governance, accuracy, and trust must remain at the core of AI deployment. Finance leaders must therefore balance innovation with risk management—driving AI adoption responsibly to enhance performance, transparency, and organizational credibility.
